Rejoice Marvelites because filming has officially gotten underway for Avengers: Age of Ultron. Josh Whedon is back at the helm for the second installment of Avengers and the 11th of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Filming has begun on location in Johannesburg, South Africa and is set to go for two weeks there with additional shooting in London and rumors that they will be shooting in Northern Italy. While no official press release was made about the start, the word comes as part of a news announcement to those in the area warning of road closures and delays. It sounds as though most of the main cast (the big ones) won’t actually be on hand, so perhaps that’s why Marvel/Disney isn’t making a huge deal out of it, but make no mistake, cameras are rolling on scenes for the next Avengers!
Now with the recent confirmed rumor that the A.I. Jarvis will see an upgrade to the hero The Vision and James Spader voicing Ultron we may see a more comic themed intro for these two characters as was depicted in the Ultimate Marvel Universe. Of course the cast of Avengers: Age of Ultron has already confirmed the addition of Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver, and Thomas Kretschmann as Wolfgang Strucker, and even Don Cheadle reprising his role as James Rhodes/ War Machine.
Is this casting getting too big as there are other rumors of Captain Marvel joining the team as well? Well my fanboy sense says no but the journalist in me says, maybe. Avengers: Age of Ultron is set to release May 1, 2015.
